WHITECRAIGS v ANNAN 2ND XV

The newly promoted Annan 2nd team travelled to Whitecraigs for their 1st league match of this season.

Depleted by unavailability the team was reduced to 14 men. The referee declared that a match for league points could be played. Although Whitecraigs had 15 players + reserves to Annan’s 14.

There were some great performances and it wasn’t until the 25th minute that Whitecraigs scored the first try. The conversion was missed.

The Stevenson brothers Zak and Lex at 9 and 10 worked well together. Youngsters James Wilkinson and Kelum Smith in the second row got stuck in. As did new signing Scott Norman at fullback in what was an inspiring team effort.

Just before half time Whitecraigs scored and converted to take the half time score to Whitecraigs 12 Annan 0.

Then Annan took 3 more injuries and were reduced to 11 men and so conceded the league points.

However another period of play continued as a friendly with both teams having equal numbers. There were no further scores and the ref blew his whistle for full time

Annan have been awarded 1 league point for fulfilling the fixture.
