ANNAN 2ND XV v FURNESS 1ST XV

The Annan 2nd team had it’s opening fixture of the 2025/26 season when Furness RFC visited Violetbank.We welcomed new player James Wilkinson (Goggles) to the senior side and he played well.

Annans account was opened when vice captain Alex Jones put in a fine cross kick which winger Lex Stevenson pounced on to go over the whitewash.

It was Stevenson again who scored Annans second when the ball was put through the hands by the backs. Converted by Andy McGreevy.

On what was a blustery day Furness scored two good tries both converted to make the halftime score: Annan 12 Furness 14

The second half saw Lex Stevenson get his hat trick again converted by Andy McGreevy. After some wonderful handling skills by a combo of Keith Hogg and Sean Haren, a young Ben Stewart caught and touched down in the corner. Score 24-14.

Furness hit right back both scoring and converting again. Score 24-21 in Annan’s favour just.

A nervy period of play was endured by the spectators and coaching staff. Finally hooker Sean Haren crashed over to settle the nerves.

Final Score: Annan 29 Furness 21

Man of the match was awarded to Max Thorburn who was starting his new career as a backrow forward
