The 1st XV are finally back in action on Saturday, the start of 5 consecutive Saturday matches to close out the 2024/25 league season.
Bishopton 1st XV are the visitors in a match that is important to both teams in the battle to stave of relegation to West 2 come the end of the season. For the visitors things are looking bleak but they still have a slim chance at staying up.
Unlike most leagues, confirmation of what the relegation places are are not decided in the West Regional leagues until the season is almost over.
Bottom line, Annan need to 43 points to be 100% safe from any relegation issues. They currently sit on 32, points so need 11 points from their last 5 matches to be sure of playing West 1 rugby next season.
With tricky away ties to Oban and Strathaven and a home tie against Kilmarnock, Saturdays match and the match at home to East Kilbride are the 1st XV’s best chances at picking up some of the required points, but with Bishopton still fighting to also avoid the drop (and the fact they beat us in the away fixture earlier in the season) mean the team know they will need to be at 100% to pick up the 4 or 5 points.

The 2nd XV will hopefully be in action on Saturday after a long break. Original opponents Carlisle have unfortunately pulled out but behind the scenes a replacement team is currently being sought.
The 2nd XV have had some bad luck this season with matches at Violetbank being called off but it is hoped that they will finally get to run out at Violetbank for the 1st time since the 16th November on Saturday!
