1ST XV AWAY TO EAST KILBRIDE

STOP PRESS: The lads fo down 43-10.

The 1st XV are off to East Kilbride this Saturday as the West Region Fixture committee decided last week to move the match from the 27th April to this Saturday.

Its a crucial match in the season as we enter the final stretch in the 1st XV’s 2023/24 West 1 season.

With just 5 matches left the 1st XV probably need 4 wins to be safe from relegation, 3 and it’s going to be down to the wire so Coach Juan will be wanting to start the run needed with this Saturday’s match.

The teams met earlier in the season when East Kilbride just nicked it 19-18 but East Kilbride have been struggling as well this season and are also not out of relegation trouble,

So both teams need this win to boost their West 1 survival chances for next season.

Note that the KO times is now back to 3pm.

1st XV starting team: 1 Ryan Glass 2 Murray Forbes 3 Kieran Warrick (C) 4 Frazer Hope 5 Callum Taylor 6 Stewart Livingstone 7 Callum Smith 8 Sean Haren 9 Aaron Carmichael 10 Fraser McMillan 11 John Glendinning 12 Aitken Render 13 Alex Halliday 14 Ben Latimer 15 Andrew Jancey

1st XV subs: 16 Kyle McRoberts 17 Murdo Bruton 18 Wallace Alexander 19 Max Thorburn

2ND XV HOST KILMARNOCK

STOP PRESS: Unfortunately as expected, too many players were unavailable as only 1 senior men’s match was scheduled for months on this date and last week surprise rearrangement of the 1st XV did not help, therefore the match has been cancelled.

The 2nd XV are also in action this weekend as they welcome Kilmarnock to Violetbank.

The 2nd XV are still looking for their first win of the season but despite the losses it’s still great to see that we can still put out a 2nd XV week most weeks.

Although this week numbers could be down due to the late change in the 1st XV fixture, with a number of 2nd XV players most likely being called up to the trip to East Kilbride.

Could all players therefore please update their availability on the Spond App so the Coaches and Team managers can see player availability

Note that the KO times is now back to 3pm.

YOUTH TEAMS IN ACTION

STOP PRESS: The U14 Boys are just pipped 36-31, the U16 Boys have a bad day at the office losing 56-5 while the U16 Girls beat Dumfries once again but lose to Biggar.

Lots of youth teams in action on Sunday

Big matches of the weekend are the U16 Girls who travel to Dumfries for their 1st matches in the U16 Girls West Youth Cup versus the hosts Dumfries and Biggar Girls. 2pm start.

While the other big match is the U16 Boys away to Cumnock in the U16 Boys West Youth Plate. Both teams have maximum points from the first 3 matches in the group stage. 2pm KO

The P1-P7 Tigers are off to old friends Carlisle TBC start, while the U14 Girls are off to Hillhead Jordanhill for a Girls Rugby Festival 12pm start.

While last but not least the U14 Boys are away to Stewartry for a friendly match. 11am KO

Best of luck to all the teams and players this weekend. If all goes well over 120 players will be in action
