CORONAVIRUS AND THE RUGBY CLUB.

As the Coronavirus situation continues to develop, Annan Rugby wishes everyone to keep safe and follow the advice on the NHS SCOTLAND website.

Stay safe, wash your hands, self isolate if required and if you need help with anything, drop an email to contact@AnnanRFC.com.

The following is the latest situation with the Coronavirus and rugby, training and the clubhouse at Annan Rugby.

CLUB STATEMENT FROM CLUB PRESIDENT GARY “TAGGART” COUPLAND

Dear members and friends,

As you are aware all rugby and related activities have been suspended in view of the COVID19 situation and associated Government and Scottish Rugby guidance.

Annan Rugby are a family rugby club with strong links to our local communities. No one knows how long this COVID19 virus will be with us and it could well impact on our communities for some time.

Let’s all pull together and do what we can to help each other and the wider community out when and where we can to get through this.

In the words of the great NZ All Black, John Kirwan –

‘Rugby is often like life. You can have the ball in hand and be running down the field feeling unstoppable. Then someone tackles you and you hit the deck, your vulnerable and lying there exposed. Suddenly your teammates are there, not just over the ball, but over you protecting you. They’re prepared to put their bodies on the line for you. That’s what happens in life, you fall over and your mates come to your assistance’.

Stay Safe

Gary Coupland

President.

RUGBY MATCHES, TRAINING AND THE GYM

As from Friday 13th March, all rugby matches and training at Annan rugby has been postponed.

As per the SRU:

“In light of government restrictions on public gatherings and the resulting pressure on emergency services and healthcare provision, Scottish Rugby has decided that with effect from Sunday 15 March at 6pm there will be a short period without domestic competition (or training) whilst a further assessment can be made. This will be in effect up to, and including, 29 March 2020………..

This decision has been taken with the best interest of everyone involved in the game and in support of the country’s work to address the impact of Coronavirus.”

Alas the Gym up at Violetbank has also been shut until further notice.

Stay safe out there.

THE CLUBHOUSE AT 17 BANK STREET

17 Bank Street will be shut until further notice.

We’ll obviously continue to evaluate the situation but in the short term, the safety of our staff and members is paramount.
