1ST XV ON THE ROAD ON SATURDAY
After a short break from rugby action, the 1st XV are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Bellsland to take on Kilmarnock Rugby in their latest West 1 match..
Kilmarnock are currently lying in 2nd spot in the league and are looking like one of the few teams that could challenge Allan Glens for the league championship.
The teams met earlier in the season when Kilmarnock ran out 36-18 winners and Annan do not have a great track record at Kilmarnock. The black and ambers last away win was back in 2006 and Kilmarnock have won the last 9 matches at Bellsland.
Annan however are starting to find some form and have had a settled team in the last few matches and so a Kilmarnock win is not guaranteed.
Players to meet at 11am for the 2pm kick off.
Annan Firsts Starting XV: R Glass, K Warrick, R Hetherington, M Thompson, T Sloan, B Thomson, C Bell, S Haren, A Jancey, J Bigham, J Kirby, H Houdley, A Halliday, A Torbett, J Whiteside
Annan Firsts Subs: J Crombie, L Johnstone, D Nordon
2ND XV HOST ARDROSSAN AT VIOLETBANK
On Saturday, the 2nd XV will hopefully have a home league match when they entertain Ardrossan Rugby.
Alas Ardrossan have been struggling for players this season and have already had to concede 3 matches and lie bottom of the West 3 reserve table but it is hoped they can get the numbers to travel to Violetbank.
For the 2nd XV, they mighty twos will be looking forward to a home league match as despite it being the 7th match of the league campaign, only 1 match so far has been played at Violetbank!
Annan currently lie in 5th spot, but only 8 points behind league leaders Marr and 4 points off 2nd spot, so a win on Saturday and Annan could move up to 2nd.
So if the match goes ahead, a great incentive for the team. For Ardrossan a win would take them off bottom spot. So all to play for!
Players to meet at 12.45pm for the 2pm kick off.
Annan Seconds Starting XV: M Duncan, S Livingston, N Graham, I Thorburn, B Sweeney, E Campbell, C Smith, R Armstrong, R Brown, R Barlow, B Conroy (Captain), D Ferguson, J Park, F hope, A Carmichael.
Annan Seconds Subs: D Lockerby, Z Lockerbie.
WARRIORS ON THE ROAD TO GARIOCH
The Annan Warriors on Sunday face a 500 mile round trip as they take on Garioch Ladies in Inverurie.
Garioch Ladies were league leaders until last weeks surprise defeat to Stewartry Sirens.
The Warriors will be wanting to build win last weeks great win over Glasgow Uni Ladies and a win could move the Warriors up into 5th spot.
For Garioch they will be wanting to get back to winning ways to keep their championship winning chances alive.
The Warriors have only played Garioch Ladies once in Inverurie back in 2018 when the Warriors ran out 24-10 winners so the Annan players will be hoping to continue this record on Sunday.
Players to meet at Saturday at 6pm Bank Street for the Sunday 1.30pm kick off.
Annan Warriors Starting XV: 1 E Jardine, 2 M Alexander, 3 J Dalgliesh, 4 N Barnes, 5 M Muir, 6 A McWilliam, 7 L Glendinning, 8 K Warrick, 9 N Barlow (Captain), 10 M McGeoch, 11 J Stewart, 12 C Barnes, 13 C O’Connell, 14 K Barlow, 15 K Taylor
Annan Warriors Subs: 16 L Moffat, 17 J McGregor
HORNETS AND TIGERS IN ACTION ON SUNDAY
5 Tiger and 2 Hornets squads in action on Sunday
The 3 P1-P7 Tiger teams are off to the Greenlaw as they travel to Castle Douglas to take part in the latest mini rugby festival at Stewartry Rugby.
The P1-P7 Tigers will no doubt, once again, be putting on a great display of rugby skills.
Parents and players to meet at 12pm for the slightly later 12.30pm start.
The U14 Tigers (the inform team at Annan Rugby) are on the road as they travel to Newton Stewart in their latest Galant league match.
The Tigers are 4 from 4 so far this season and will be wanting to keep up their 100% winning record.
Players to meet as arranged with their coaches for the 1pm kick off.
And finally, the U16 Tigers are at home hosting Strathaven in the league.
After last Sunday’s great win over Kilmarnock Rugby, the U16 Tigers will be hoping to make it 2 in a row when they host the lads from South Lanarkshire.
Players to meet as arranged with their coaches for the 2pm kick off.
While an U15 Hornets squad are away to a festival at Kendal Rugby and the U18 Hornets are joining up with Biggar to go take part in a Rugby tournament at Stirling.
