Match Report from Coach Andrew Jancey

Annan played host to Moffat on Sunday for the U14s first game of the season.

The 11 strong Annan side where eager to get there season going with many playing their first game on a full size pitch.

Annan kicked off the game and showed good defence to pressure the strong attacking Moffat side, managing to turn the ball over and played much of the first few minutes in the Moffat half.

Good defence from the visiting team and a well timed interception produced the first score of the game going to Moffat.

The visitors showed good attacking skill running leading to some well worked tries but Annan, through good scrum and line out set plays, where able to but a platform and score some well worked team tries through the two 20 min periods played.

The 3rd 20 min period of play saw the 2 teams mix together to allow for a 13 v 13 game with players from both teams showing good attack to make for an exciting finish for the spectators and players alike.

All in all a good start for the boys

We would like to thank Moffat u14s for travelling across for the game and for their sportsmanship that allowed all to enjoy their rugby.

Special mention to Ollie McKeown who played in his first ever game of rugby, showing great promise at the hooker position at the lineouts and Scrums.
