LANGHOLM XV v ANNAN XV
FRIENDLY
25TH FEBRUARY 2023
Match Report from: GUS ROBERTSON
An Annan XV played at Milntown last Saturday to take on a Langholm XV in a hastily arranged friendly after Langholm’s league opponents pulled out.
The first half was a close affair, with Annan dominating territory and they spent most of the half in the home sides 22 but stern Langholm defence kept the Annan lads out.
In fact, Annan did cross the whitewash on two occasions but were deemed held up by the referee.
Despite all the territory the half ended scoreless.
In the 2nd half, the home side now with the wind behind them, ran in 6 tries to run out 30-7 winners.
The first points of the half though were from Annan, an Aaron Carmichael try, converted by Captain Josh Whiteside made it 7-0 before Langholm ran in 6 unanswered tries.
A great effort from the Annan lads against a strong Langholm outfit. A return fixture before the end of the season will hopefully be arranged.
The 2nd XV now have a home tie on Saturday in the league v Ardrossan.
Keep an eye online for details as so far this season Ardrossan 2nd XV have not played any of their six away matches so the fixture may change.
