EAST KILBRIDE 1ST XV v ANNAN 1ST XV .

TENNENT’S WEST DIVISION 1
7TH MARCH 2020

Match Report from: Coach Neil “Muff” Moffat

On Saturday Annan’s 1st 15 string travelled to East Kilbride to play a side who hadn’t played since mid December and were hoping to capitalise on them being rusty, unfortunately Annan’s hopes never came true.

On a very heavy pitch both teams tried their best to play an open expansive game. In the first quarter Annan Had the upper hand forcing East Kilbride into mistakes through aggressive defence and were unlucky not to get on the score sheet. Tam Sloan had a hit ratio of one per minute, barely able to keep his eyes in their sockets!

Against the run of play East Kilbride got the opening try (which wasn’t to be his last!). The tempo at the start of the game was very fast and proved impossible for the away team to maintain with East Kilbride scoring 3 more times before the break.

Half time score: 24-0.

The second half went East Kilbride’s way with the home side showing their finishing quality exploiting Annan out wide on numerous occasions.

Annan’s had more problems with Kirby and Hetherington being removed from the field with suspected concussion.

Annan ran out of steam and was unable to match the firepower of East Kilbride who comfortably won the match 55 – 0.

Full time score: 55-0.

Annan now need to focus on next week’s task when the play Irvine at Violetbank, a must win if they want to keep out of the relegation zone.
