DUMFRIES 2ND XV v ANNAN 2ND XV

On Saturday, the 28th March, the Annan 2nd team made the short journey to play Dumfries in a Reserve Division 1 West league fixture. Both teams were also competing for the AA MacPherson Memorial Trophy.

Annan played the first half against a strong wind. But they made a far better start than the previous week. The ball was kept close with plenty of pick and drive. The handling was improved, as was the tackling.

Both sides went at it hammer and tongs. It was 20 mins before the first try was scored by Dumfries. They then added 2 more tries and 2 conversions, making the half-time score Dumfries 19 Annan 0.

In the second half, the weather got worse, drenching everything, including your intrepid reporter’s notebook.

Highlight for Annan was a try scored by Hayden Hodgson. A further 2 tries and a conversion were then scored by Dumfries.
