CAMBUSLANG 2ND XV v ANNAN 2ND XV.
TENNENT’S WEST RESERVE DIVISION 3 (SOUTH)
30TH OCTOBER 2021
Match Report from: Coach Gordon “Gogs” Carmichael
On Saturday Annan 2nd XV traveled up to Glasgow to play Cambuslang 2nd XV in their latest Tennent’s West Reserve Division 3 (South) match.
With all the rain we have been having in the last week we weren’t expecting a fast flowing game – how wrong can one be!
With the game being played on their newly laid 1st team pitch and the weather perfect it turned out to be a hugely exiting attacking game.
With the home side announcing they had no props(!), it would be uncontested scrums
With the Annan side side bolstered by a couple of experienced players they started to throw the ball around and with good pace in th backs they started of a scoring spree scoring five tries to one the first half, which four were converted, to bring the half time score to 38-5 in Annan’s favour.
The second half turned out to be a more evenly contested game with both sides intent on attacking both defences seemed to be forgotten about.
This meant that both team scored at will with Cambuslang scoring five and Annan scoring a further six try’s which brought the final score to Cambuslang 38 v Annan 73
Try Scorers: Elliot Haley (3), Declan Ferguson (2), Josh Whiteside (2), Finley McCartney (1), Eben Le Vin (1), Aaron Carmichael (1) and Max Thorburn (1)
Josh Whiteside converting 9 of the 11 tries
On the whole this was a good performance by the seconds but they need to work on there defence and pod systems which can only be done at training.
Good to see Max Thorburn back after a two year absence and overall a good day in Glasgow.
