Match Report from: Neil Bell
Well after a festive break of eating too many sweets and not enough rugby!!, Annan U14 Hornets were playing Biggar girls. Just before the Christmas break, Biggar girls won the last game.
Due to Jack Frost making appearance and the pitch was a bit firm in places. It was decided to play touch. So everyone was getting some game/ match fitness out of today game.
With both team having 13 girls it was decided just to get everyone on the pitch and keep warm.
The 1st game was 20 mins long. Annan won this 3 tries to nil. The next interval was played at 10 minutes Annan Hornets scoring another 2 tries
With the ground thawing out it was decided the last 15 to play a bit more free flowing rugby. Biggar started to get some better runs on the ball and scored 3 tries while Annan scored 3 also
Hornets winning today game 8-3.
All girls stuck to the task today which was to close down the Biggar attack and not give them space to run.
A special thanks to Biggar girls for coming down. We hope to come up to Biggar soon for another game.
All girls should be proud of themselves. A special thanks to our English neighbour Carlisle for coming along again and bringing 2 girls to bolster our squad.
Also to Ellie Smith playing full back role and looking very comfortable in playing this position.
Annan/Carlisle girls were: Niamh Ross (capt), Eva Graham, Abby Notman, Ellie Smith, Jenna Williamson, Ellie Notman, Heidi Jamieson, Ayda Chiercha, Ellie Byers, Murren Thin-Smith, Hannah Colledge, Tess and Sofia (Carlisle)
Thanks to the parents that helped in the grubber and made soup.
Also thanks again to Abbie Clark for coming along to help coach the girls
