U15 Match Report from: Billy Henderson

On Sunday, the 10th of November, Annan under 15 Hornets went away to a girls rugby festival at Kendal.

Our squad consisted of 13 girls and after Carlisle had come and train with us during this week six of their girls joined up with us to play a 40 minute games against a Keswick/Kendal/Kirby Stephen combined team and Netherhall/Penrith combination. We won both these games.

In the first game Hannah, Holly, Jenna and Niamh has one try each.

The second game the tries came from Eva, Ellie Notman, Ellie Smith, Hannah and Niamh with also a few conversions made by Abbie Notman.

Today we had better rucking and handling than the previous weeks and also got a great kickoffs and open field play.

However we were a little bit slow in getting up into their faces in open play. Despite a few key girls missing today, we shuffle the squad about putting Niamh at scrum-half, Abbie at stand-off and Ellie Smith at full-back which these girls were more than adequate playing in these positions furthermore we pulled Holly Clark and Kara Jamison from the front row to backrow where they did not seem out place.

Pleasing to see Jenna Williamson and Adya Chierchia back playing after being absent for for a while. Players that caught my eye today Adya and Eva, they don’t do the flash stuff but they do,they do they do well. Abbie Notman is a good strong natural performer.

Ellie Smith at full-back had a good awareness in her first start in this position. Holly had good leadership and organisation and put in a hard-working shift.

My man of the match was Nieve Ross for her being sharp as ever and strong in both attack and defence

Thanks to for Sarah Hunter for coming down to help, all the parents who came and supported/transport to the girls, Kendal rugby club for a great festival and especially the girls for a positive day.

The squad was: Abbey Notman, Ellie Notman, Adya Chierchia, Jenna Williamson, Hannah College, Murran Thinnsmith, Heidi Jamieson, Kara Jamieson, Eva Graham, Ellie Smith, Ellie Byres, Holly Clark – Captain, Nieve Ross
