ANNAN 2ND XV v KILMARNOCK

WEST RESERVE 2
6TH SEPTEMBER 2025

Match Report from Steve Jancey

On Saturday, 6th Seotember Annan 2nd team hosted Kilmarnock in their 1st home league match of the new Season. The squad was a mixture of young and experienced players and what a fine blend it turned out to be.

Kilmarnock arrived with only 15 players. Despite this setback they played well throughout scoring 3 tries and a conversion. The last of which was right at the end of the game.

For Annan the experience of Keith Hogg, Alan Rae and Andrew Jancey created plenty of opportunities for the backs.

For the forwards Stewart Wyllie, Murdo Bruton and Michael Carpenter impressed.

Annan welcomed back Jack Graham and Liam Ogilvie to Violetbank.

The black and Amber 2nd team were as strong as I can remember. Producing 11 tries and 7 conversions.

Final score Annan 69 Kilmarnock 17.

After 2 matches the squad now have 6 league points in Division 1 West reserve league.

Next Saturday the team are away to West of Scotland. Please make yourselves available because teams that don’t show get league points deducted.

Many thanks to Kilmarnock for making the journey and to our referee for the day.

Get well soon Keith Hogg and Michael Carpenter. Who were both injured during the match.

For the record scorers were Aaron Kirkup 2 tries and 2 con, Andrew Jancey 2 tries, Alex Jones 2 tries, Stewart Wyllie 2 tries, Murdo Bruton 2 tries, Ben Stewart 1 try 4 con, Zak Stevenson 1 conversion.
