On a rainy Saturday in September the Annan 2nd team hosted Allan Glens down at the Everholm.
It was Lex Stevenson who got Annan off the mark. When after some fine handling through the backs he outstripped Glens defence to dot down under the posts. Converted by Andy Mcgreevy.
Next up for Annan was Michael Thompson after an unstoppable charging run. Which saw him touch down left of the posts. Again converted by Mcgreevy. For Glens the scores were 2 tries,one conversion and a penalty. Making the half score Annan 14 Allan Glens 15
The second half continued in the same fiercely contested manner, as the rain hammered down. Mcgreevy slotted a penalty but Glens scored 2 further tries with one Converted.
McGreevy scored Annan’s 3rd and final try which he also converted to make the final Score Annan 24 Allan Glens 27.
This was a closely contested game which if Annan had played with a bit more composure and taken different options they could have won
There were fine carries by forwards Neal Coupland, Michael Thompson and Jack Graham. For the backs Lex Stevenson, Andy Mcgreevy, Alan Rae and Ben Conroy impressed.
It was a big improvement from the last two encounters with Glens when Annan lost 63-0 and 81-7 respectively. Just before Glens were promoted to Division 1 West reserve league.
